tree.

A bill titled `Uttar Pradesh Protection of Trees (Amendment) Bill, 2011` was today introduced in the Legislative Assembly.
The bill proposes to double the penalty for illegal felling of trees from existing Rs 5,000.

The government also tabled the Uttar Pradesh
Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill replacing an ordinance
promulgated in the month of June to increase the tenure of the
management committees of cooperative societies from two to
three years.
