Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta NK Mehrotra has sent a report to Governor Ram Naik against BSP state chief and former minister Ram Achal Rajbhar, who was under probe for graft charges, alleging inaction on the recommendations made by him against the leader

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta NK Mehrotra has sent a report to Governor Ram Naik against BSP state chief and former minister Ram Achal Rajbhar, who was under probe for graft charges, alleging inaction on the recommendations made by him against the leader

"I have sent a report to the Governor as even after one- and-a-half years no action has been taken against Rajbhar on a report submitted by me in disproportionate assets case," Justice Mehrotra told PTI.

The Lokayukta said he had submitted the report in March last year against Rajbhar in disproportionate assets case and for allegedly misusing his position during his tenure as Transport Minister.

"I had recommended that an FIR should be lodged against the former minister and a criminal investigation should be done by any agency," he said.

Mehrotra said his report was accepted by Chief Minister within 15 days and the inquiry was handed over to Vigilance Establishment.

"But even after almost one-and-a-half years, the vigilance department has done nothing so far, not even an FIR has been lodged against Rajbhar. Therefore I have sent a special report to the Governor yesterday," he said.

The Lokayukta said he has recommended that the report be tabled in the Assembly along with another report stating what action has been taken so far.
"I have written that I am not satisfied with the officers. I have stated that either the officers were indifferent or they were not willing to conduct an inquiry against these leaders for some reason or the other," he said.
