Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday summoned Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of all 72 districts of the state in connection with its ongoing probe into embezzlement of funds meant for the implementation of schemes related to the National Rural Health Mission.
The central probe agency has asked the CMO’s to report at its office in the state capital with NRHM records from 2005 onwards.
The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary probe into the affairs of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) since its inception in Uttar Pradesh.
The case handed over to the CBI – on Nov 15 - on the instructions of the Lucknow Bench of the Court. The agency was also directed to conduct a preliminary inquiry from 2005-06 to till date.
The investigating agency has been given four months to complete the probe.
The court had directed the state government to hand over and make available all records that might be required by the CBI and render full support and cooperation to the agency.
