UP Oppn leader flays state budget

Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Shivpal Singh Yadav on Monday charged the state government with failing to spend almost 50 per cent of last year`s budget till now.

Lucknow: Leader of Opposition in the Uttar
Pradesh Assembly, Shivpal Singh Yadav on Monday charged the state
government with failing to spend almost 50 per cent of last
year`s budget till now.

Initiating the debate on the 2010-11 budget, he alleged
that with only one and a half months left for the current
fiscal year, corrupt measures would be resorted to now to show
fund utilisation.

Yadav questioned the status of the promises made by the
government in last budget for doubling the income of the
farmers and reducing the number of those living below poverty
line.

Referring to the rate of development during the previous
Samajwadi Party government, Yadav alleged it has gone down in
during the BSP government.

Yadav said though the government makes tall claims on the
development front, it has reduced the budget of almost all the
important departments and has ignored the farmers and the
poor.
