UP: Oudh lawyers to abstain from work till Jan 22

Lawyers of Oudh Bar Association (OBA) will continue to abstain from work till January 22 in support of their demand for enlargement of territorial jurisdiction of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.

Lucknow: Lawyers of Oudh Bar Association (OBA) will continue to abstain from work till January 22 in support of their demand for enlargement of territorial jurisdiction of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.

This decision was taken today by the executive committee of the OBA.

"The further course of action will be decided in the next meeting of executive committee on January 22," OBA general secretary Ramesh Pandey said.

"As the executive committee has not received any written communication from the side of the HC Chief Justice in furtherance of his assurance given to delegation on January 19, it is unanimously decided that members of the Bar will continue to abstain from work till 22," Pandey said.

He also told that the Action Committee headed by Amitabh Mishra, president of the Bar, has been constituted and the same will make all endeavours to press for the said demand.

Lawyers of OBA are abstaining from work since January 8.
