Lucknow: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh, Monday, arrested three persons, including promoter of a Lucknow school, in connection with the leak of the question paper of Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services (PCS) preliminary examination on Sunday.
The STF cracked the case within 24 hours after it arrested Vishal, who runs Adarsh Bharti School in the city and two teachers Jai Singh and Gyanendra today morning.
The three are accused of leaking the paper an hour before the start of the examination yesterday. As per the STF they conspired to click photos of the question paper on mobile phones and leaked it via WhatsApp.
The UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC), headquartered in Allahabad, had to face the ire of lakhs of aspirants who have been left high and dry due to the cancellation of the paper.
Yesterday, the news of the paper leak spread like a wildfire while the first shift of the preliminary exams, held between 9.30 am and 11.30 am, was under way.
Around 4.5 lakh candidates appeared in 917 centres across the state, including 70,000 candidates in Lucknow who took the test in 148 centres.
The matter prompted Opposition parties to demand a CBI probe and dismissal the UPPSC head, who has been in the eye of a storm since 2013 when a controversial reservation policy was introduced by the UPPSC, introducing caste-based reservations at the preliminary stage itself.
