Lucknow: CPI(M) on Tuesday said it has so far identified 16 seats to field its candidates in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

"We have identified 16 assembly seats in which we will field candidates. Three or four more seats could be added to it in days to come," CPI(M) State Secretary SP Kashyap told reporters here.

He said that in the two-day state convention at Kanpur it was decided that all left parties would unite to form the Left Front to challenge Congress, BSP, BJP and SP parties.

The party also decided to launch campaigns on issues related to public interest like price rise, corruption, land acquisition and rise in crime.
