UP Principal Home Secy, DGP take stock of Kanwad Yatra preparation

Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) Debasish Panda and Director General of Police (DGP) Javed Ahmed took stock of the security arrangements for Kanwad Yatra here and chalked out a blueprint for deployment of police forces in the area.

Officials of Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will share information to maintain law and order during Kawad Yatra, Panda said here.

Police and administrative officers of all the four states were present in the meeting.

For the ease of traffic movement, the kanwadiyas will be allowed to use only the left side of the highway here and the same rule is applicable for all those which will be providing food to the pilgrims, he said.

All the hospitals located along the highway have been directed to keep their emergency wards ready in case of any untoward incident, Panda added.

Ahmed said 40 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), National Disaster Relief Force, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Special Task Force will be deployed on the routes.

Movement of heavy vehicles will be stopped on July 24 and light vehicles from July 27 to August 1, he added.
