The Uttar Pradesh government today relaxed conditions of eligibility in the Kanshiram Urban Housing Scheme to cover more urban poor under it.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government today relaxed conditions of eligibility in the Kanshiram Urban Housing Scheme to cover more urban poor under it.

Under the relaxed rule, eligibility would not be confined to those with BPL cards, but allocation would go by income certificate, the cabinet decided today.

The income certificate has to be verified by district magistrates concerned, an official release said.

All BPL families would be eligible for applying under the scheme, though it would not be mandatory for them to have a BPL card.
The potential beneficiaries should not have any housing plot and must be permanent residents in the urban area concerned for five years besides having their names enrolled on the voters list.
A total of Rs 2.45 lakh would be spent on each house to be constructed during 2009-2010 under the scheme.
