Etah (UP): Two persons have been arrested and a Scorpio, country made pistol and cartridges were recovered from their possession at Dhumari village crossing here, police said on Monday.
A Scorpio with four occupants was intercepted by the police after the vehicle sped away from a crossing at Dhumari village under Jaithera police station area yesterday, they said.
The accused refused to stop the vehicle at the crossing and also fired at the cops, following which the car was chased and the occupants arrested, police said.
Two of the occupants, Pankaj and Girish were arrested while the other two gave a slip to the police.
During interrogation, the duo revealed the name of their accomplices, Hariom and Awdesh, police said, adding there are more than one and a half dozen criminal cases registered against Pankaj.
Pankaj is a resident of Parushram Nagar in Etawah district while Girish belongs to Kanpur, they informed.
A country made pistol, cartridges and the car the accused were travelling in, have been seized, police added.
The Scorpio they were travelling in was stolen, they said, adding that further investigation is on.
