Lucknow: BJP`s veteran leader Atal Bihari
Vajpayee has issued an appeal for party candidate Amit Puri
who is contesting from Lucknow (West) assembly seat, which
goes to poll on November 7.

In his appeal, the former prime minister has lashed
out at opposition parties and urged the electorates to vote in
favour of the BJP candidate and ensure his victory in the
by-election.

"You have tested Congress and have seen SP and BSP
government. Situation of the state is deteriorating day-by-day
and inflation had hit the life of a common man badly,"
Vajpayee said in his appeal.

"Though I am ill, but I am indebted with the affection
you have shown for me. I am sending Amit for your
blessings," he added.

Terming Amit Puri as a dedicated worker, he has asked
people to give him a chance.

"The party will now distribute the appeal issued by
Vajpayee among electorates," a senior leader said.

Elated with the appeal, Puri, who is facing dissidence
from the party ranks, said that it was like Vajpayee`s
blessing for him.

"I am confident that on the appeal of Atalji, people
of Lucknow will ensure my victory," he said.

This is the second time the BJP veteran has issued an
appeal in favour of the party candidate.

In Lok Sabha election, Vajpayee issued a similar
appeal for Lalji Tandon, who contested from Luckow
Parliamentary seat.
