Vicky Tyagi murder case: Judicial custody of accused extended

A local court on Monday extended till March 17 the judicial custody of two persons accused in the murder of gangster Vicky Tyagi.

Muzaffarnagar: A local court on Monday extended till March 17 the judicial custody of two persons accused in the murder of gangster Vicky Tyagi.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar extended judicial custody of the accused, a juvenile, and another identified as Brijbir Singh, police said, adding, the juvenile could not appear before the court here as he is lodged in Varanasi jail.

However, co-accused Brijbir Singh was produced in the court from the district jail today.
The juvenile accused was shifted to Varanasi jail from the district jail here as he was facing threat to his life.

Vicky Tyagi was allegedly shot by the juvenile, who had entered a courtroom here masquerading as a lawyer, on February 16.

The juvenile was arrested from the spot the same day and has been sent to jail. Brijbir Singh was nabbed on February 17 and remanded to judicial custody till March 2.

Tyagi was facing trial in the 2011 Barakali murder case in which 8 persons of a family were killed.
Seven policemen, including one sub-inspector, who were escorting Vicky have been suspended for negligence of duty and for failing to provide him security.
