Woman alleges abduction, gangrape in Meerut, police says incident 'suspicious'
Based on the complaint filed by the woman, four persons have been booked in this connection and one them was arrested yesterday, an official told PTI.
Meerut: A 45-year-old woman here has alleged she was abducted and gangraped by a group of men in a moving car here, police said on Saturday.
However, SP Om Prakash said that according to preliminary investigations the whole incident looks "suspicious".
Based on the complaint filed by the woman, four persons have been booked in this connection and one them was arrested yesterday, Circle Officer Vinod Sirohi said told PTI.
According to the victim, the incident took place yesterday when she along with her 13-year-old daughter was going to a doctor's clinic in Tejgadhi here when four men, travelling in a car, asked her for directions and pulled both of them inside the vehicle, Sirohi said.
The woman alleged that three of them gangaraped her and threw her out of the car near the city court and fled with her daughter, he said.
She then started looking for her daughter when she spotted one of the men, Aas Mohammed of Kithaur area, in the court premises. She shouted for help and handed him over to the police with the help of others, Sirohi said.
Later, the woman's daughter was found near Jail Chungi area who said she fled from Mohammed's custody and reached Jail Chungi looking for her mother.
Sirohi said based on the complaint, Aas Mohammad, Aasif, Naimuddin and another identified person was booked in the case at Nauchandi police station and investigation in this connection is underway.
The SP said Mohammad's sister was abducted and gangraped three years ago. Three persons -- Ikram, Buddhan and Rehana were booked in the case under charges of gangrape, abduction and the POCSO Act.
"The case is currently pending in the court of ADJ-17. We have found out that Mohammad is being pressurised for a settlement since months. Not getting succeeded in that, the case of abduction and gangrape has been filed through the woman against Mohammad and the people of his side," Prakash said.
