Woman killed for not giving birth to male child

A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws for failing to give birth to a male child in Pant Nagar locality in the city, police said on Friday.

Nagar locality in the city, police said on Friday.

Family members of Vinita Srivastava (30), who died
yesterday following severe burn injuries, have alleged that
the victim`s in-laws and husband had killed her, police said.
An FIR has been registered against four persons -- the
husband, mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, they said,
adding the husband has been taken into custody.

According to the FIR, the woman who was a mother of
two girls, aged nine and seven years, was often harassed for
failing to give birth to a male child , police said.
The husband has, however, claimed that the she suffered
burns while cooking food on a stove and was rushed to a
nursing home where she died, police added.
