Woman set ablaze for resisting molestation

Bareilly (UP): A 30-year-old married woman was set afire allegedly by a youth for resisting his molestation bid in Sirauli area here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday evening when the woman was alone at her home and the accused Deshraj entered there and tried to molest her, they said.

When the woman raised an alarm, he sprinkled kerosene on her and set her afire, police said.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where her condition is stated to be serious with 90 per cent burn injuries, they said.

No arrest has been made so far in this connection, police said.
