Lucknow: In a bid to recreate the magic of yesteryear's blockbuster 'Mughal-e-Azam', the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a theme park in Etawah based on K Asif's epic movie.
The people of Katra Purdal Khan, who have welcomed the announcement, say that the theme park will be a fitting tribute to the legendary producer and director of the movie, K Asif who was born here.
A report by The Times of India said that by setting up the theme park, the UP government wants to honour K Asif and his contributions to the Indian cinema.
Karimuddin Asif, popularly known as K Asif, was born to Dr Fazal Karim and Bibi Ghulam Fatima in Katra Purdal Khan situated on Etawah-Bareilly highway, on March 14, 1922.
As per the report, the theme park will have galleries dedicated to the filmmaker and his films, besides key characters of the film.
Besides, the UP government is mulling to invite key characters of the epic movie, who are still alive, to take part in the foundation stone or to inaugurate the project after its completion to help promote tourism in Etawah.
The theme park on K Asif's magnum opus is also likely to boost tourist footfall in the region and popularise Etawah.
