Over 400 pilgrims have visited Kedarnath temple by air since resumption of chopper service to the Himalayan shrine earlier this week after monsoon.

Gopeshwar: Over 400 pilgrims have visited Kedarnath temple by air since resumption of chopper service to the Himalayan shrine earlier this week after monsoon.

Choppers being operated by Himalaya Heli Service from Sirsi near Fata have so far flown 459 pilgrims to the revered temple in a week's time,?District Disaster Management sources said.

Chopper services to the shirne were resumed on September 16 after monsoon, they said.

The weather is largely clear in Kedarnath these days with Himalaya Heli Service choppers making as many as 34 sorties on Sunday to ferry 175 devotees to the shrine and 189 back, they said.

Chopper services have been resumed for the shrine after a gap of nearly three months due to monsoon during which it rains heavily in the area.

More companies like Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited are likely to operate their choppers between Sirsi and Kedarnath by September 25.
