`Action plan soon for hill areas to check migration`

Uttarakhand CM Vijay Bahuguna said a concrete action plan would be chalked out for the development of border hill areas in the state to check migration from the region.

Almora: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Thursday said a concrete action plan would be chalked out for the development of border hill areas in the state to check migration from the region.

Interacting with mediapersons here, Bahuguna said a concrete action plan would be prepared for every district, especially those falling in hilly areas, to ensure benefits reach even the most remote regions of the state.

In this regard, he called for better coordination between administrative officials and public representatives.

The Chief Minister also directed officials concerned to tap the state`s tourism potential and to set up industries in hilly areas to generate employment for locals.

These measures would help check the migration of youths from the region to bigger cities in search of employment, he said.
Bahuguna also said all the posts reserved for SC/ST would be identified and filled soon.

On developmental works in Almora, the Chief Minister said a fund would be sanctioned soon for the construction of a barrage on river Kosi to mitigate the water scarcity problem in the district and in adjoining areas.

He also indicated the government was keen on setting up an inter-state bus terminus in the district to boost its connectivity.
