Dehradun: A local court has granted bail
to Pranjal Agarwal, son of a BJP leader, whose over-speeding car had killed a school girl and left her sister seriously injured.

Agarwal (20) was granted bail by a CJM court here late
last evening.

A speeding car of Agarwal, a law student, yesterday
hit Mahima (10) and Bhavana (6) when the two sisters were
walking to their school in the morning, they said.

Bhavana died on the spot, while Mahima is still
battling for life in a hospital, they said.

Immediately after the accident, locals caught hold of
Agarwal and handed him over to the police.

Agarwal is son of Umesh Agarwal, former chairman of
Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), a state government enterprise for tourism.
Umesh is a close aide of former Chief Minister B C
Khanduri.

Police would further interrogate Agarwal as well as
his parents in the case, SSP Dehradun G S Martolia told PTI,
adding "We will also do a medical examination of the boy."

Meanwhile, social activist Padamshree Dr Anil Joshi
has called for rigorous imprisonment for Agarwal.
"Unless, the punishment is rigorous, such kind of
accidents will continue to occur," he said.
