Dehra Dun: A court here on Wednesday handed over
the custody of the twin children of a software engineer, who
killed his wife and stored pieces of her body in a freezer, to
their maternal uncle even as the police recovered a part of
her body from the foothills of Mussoorie.

Under the interim order passed by Chief Judicial
Magistrate Kunwar Amanedra Singh, Sujan Pradhan, brother of
deceased Anupama Gulati (33), has been given custody of the
four-year-old twins who will meet their paternal grandparents
on the last Saturday of every month in a Delhi temple.
The children will also meet their father Rajesh Gulati
(37) in the court here on December 24, the CJM said.

Gulati, who was was present in the court during the
order, allegedly murdered his wife Anupama and hid her body
pieces in a deep-freezer for nearly two months, a case which
shocked the entire nation.

The incident came to light when Anupama`s brother Sujan
lodged a complaint with the police after he failed to contact
her or find her at her rented home in Dehra Dun.

After the complaint, the police arrested Rajesh from his
rented accommodation on December 12 following which he
confessed to have murdered Anupama on October 17.

He told police that he banged Anupama`s head against a
wall following which she fell unconscious and later he
strangulated her, after which he cut her body into pieces and
stashed them into a deep-freezer for nearly two months here.
Meanwhile, police recovered Anupama`s left foot wrapped
in a black polythene after Gulati was taken to the jungles on
the foothills of Mussoorie.

Gulati had earlier said that he had thrown some of the
body pieces near Mussoorie.

The postmortem report of Anupama confirmed that she had
died of asphyxiation.

Meanwhile, a special police team has been constituted for
investigation into the brutal freezer murder case. The team
headed by Circle Officer of Vikasnagar would investigate the
case and apprise SSP Dehra Dun G S Martolia of its findings on
daily basis.

The body pieces of Anupama would be sent for a DNA test,
Martolia said.
