Dehra Dun: Five persons, including two
women, were killed when a car in which they were travelling
fell into a river at Gangnani area of Uttarkashi district,
police today said.
The incident took place at Nagdevta temple, nearly 200
km from here on Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway, late last
night when the car skidded and fell into 300-meter deep Limki
On being informed, the police launched rescue and search
operation despite incessant rains in the area and fished out
Bodies are being brought to Uttarkashi district hospital
for post-mortem, police said.
The identity of the deceased has not been established so
far, police said, adding, they could be residents of New Delhi
as the car bears registration number of the national capital.
In an another incident, eight persons were injured when
the two cars in which they were travelling fell into a khud
after colliding head-on at Kaladhungi area of Nainital
