Forest guards end strike as govt agrees to promotion demand

Forest guards on strike for the last three days demanding promotion today resumed duty after government agreed to look into their grievance.

Dehra Dun: Forest guards on strike for the
last three days demanding promotion today resumed duty after
government agreed to look into their grievance.

Rawat said a proposal regarding their demand was sent to the
government and it has acceded to it.

They were resorting to lockouts since Tuesday in various
offices in support of their demand for promotion to the post
of foresters and the protest had affected functioning of
various forest units.

General Secretary of Forest Guard Association, Rishiram
Painuli alleged that police lathicharged the guards during a
peaceful demonstration, leaving some of them injured. However,
police denied having resorted to lathicharge on them.
