Dehra Dun: A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was desecrated in Gandhi Chowk area of Mussoorie following which two persons have been arrested, police said on Monday.

Sanjiv Kumar and Harkesh Singh, both residents of Najafgarh area in Delhi, were arrested and jailed yesterday for allegedly desecrating the statue while they were in an inebriated state.

The Mussoorie Municipal Council has removed the desecrated statue and installed a new one in its place, they said.

such people think that they have paid for the room rent and they have driven upto the hill station they own it.such minscreants are the ones leading to traffic jams aswell coz they will never follow the traffic rules and the local public suffers due to this.their attitude towards the locals is pathetic.we need to make strict norms and also the municipal and the civic body has to take responsiblity.
