Dehra Dun: To meet security challenges, well trained police personnel with ultra-modern equipments will be posted in the tough border areas of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Thursday said.

Speaking at a coordination seminar of Indo Tibetan Border Force (ITBP) and Uttarakhand Police here, Bahuguna said "special police stations would also be set up in the tough border areas."
Uttarakhand shares its border with Tibet and Nepal.

Describing the migration of people from border areas as "dangerous" for national security, the chief minister stressed on the need for ensuring effective implementation of development programs initiated by the Centre, as well as the state government in those areas.

Bahuguna said ITBP, state police and local people have pivotal role to play in security of the border areas.

Bahuguna also suggested that the security forces should launch programs related to the livelihood of the local people as this would also establish an emotional bond.

The chief minister said the state government had decided to pay border area allowances to the employees posted in remote terrains to keep their spirit high and speed up the development process there.
