Dehradun: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar
Joshi on Monday said that while BJP and NDA-ruled states had been
launching a number of welfare schemes for people, other state
governments were indulged in scandals only.
Addressing a gathering after flagging off "Antyodya
Vikas Rath Yatra", aiming at apprising people of the welfare
and development schemes launched by the Uttarakhand
government, Joshi said welfare programmes are necessary for
the country as its 70 percent population is poor.
In this regard, he claimed the BJP and NDA-ruled states
were doing well but other states ruled by Congress and other
parties were lagging behind due to rampant corruption.
Joshi criticised the UPA government for rising inflation
and said there was no shortage of foodgrains, LPG and other
things during the NDA rule at the Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ramesh
Pokhriyal Nishank said he has already visited nearly 50
assembly constituencies of the state under his "Antyodya Vikas
Yatra" and established a direct contact with the people to
know and redress their grievances.
In the first phase, four buses have been flagged off
but later their number will be increased, he said.
