Dehra Dun: The yatra to the Himalayan shrine
of Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district remained suspended for
the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday as the repair work on the
14-km long trek route damaged by the landslides is yet to be
completed.
Official sources said repair of the damaged
Gaurikund-Kedarnath trek is still going on. Efforts are on to
resume the movement of pilgrims on trek as early as possible,
which is blocked since Friday when landslides had hit the trek
damaging it.
The alternative trek route to Kedarnath is very narrow
making it dangerous for pilgrims to use it, they added.
Kedarnath is situtated at a height of 3581 metres in
Garhwal Himalayas. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
