Dehra Dun: Seeking effective participation of
people in making Uttarakhand a corruption-free state, Chief
Minister BC Khanduri has asked the public to refrain from
offering as well as accepting bribes.
Corruption cannot be ended by a single person or
legislation. It requires effective participation of the people
to eradicate the evil, Khanduri said at Satpuli in Pauri
district last evening.
He said for making Uttarakhand a corruption-free state, an
effective and strong Lokayukta Bill has been passed. Khanduri
asked people to desist from the "tendency of offering and
accepting bribes" as both the givers and takers of bribe are
considered culpable under the new law.
The chief minister said it is only through fighting
corruption that the dream of making Uttarakhand a model state
can be fully realised.
Khanduri, who dedicated development schemes worth Rs 16.76
crore to the people during his visit, said he has always
encouraged projects associated with education and health
