No two-storey buildings near Corbett National Park

The Uttarakhand government has decided not to give permission for construction of buildings with two storeys or more near the Corbett National Park until a decision on the proposed eco-sensitive zone is taken.

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has decided not to give permission for construction of buildings with two storeys or more near the Corbett National Park until a decision on the proposed eco-sensitive zone is taken.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the state wildlife board chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, an official release said.

The government also decided to establish Rajaji Tiger Conservation Foundation with the cooperation of people living in the vicinity of proposed Rajaji Tiger Reserve, it said.
The final notification giving official status to Rajaji National Park was also issued during the meeting, the release said.
It was told in the meeting that eco-sensitive plans for four conserved areas of the state has already been formulated, the same for various other such areas is in the pipeline.
