Pilgrim from SA dies under mysterious circumstances

A pilgrim from South Africa died under mysterious circumstances at Piran Kaliyar area near Roorkee, the police said on Tuesday.

Kaliyar area near Roorkee, the police said on Tuesday.

After performing "Ziyarat" at Piran Kaliyar dargah,
58-year-old Ashraf Khan, a resident of Cape Town, reached his
hotel on March 27 and fell unconcious. Khan was soon rushed to
a government hopspital where he was declared brought dead.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and
informed his family members in South Africa about the incident
and launched investigations.

A postmortem was also conducted and its report is
being awaited, said Roorkee Deputy Superintendent of Police
Kamlesh Upadhyay

He said Khan`s daughter Jaitun Khan has urged the
South African Embassy to hand over his body to his relative
Syed Mohammed Nizami who lives in Delhi.
