Dehradun: Chairman of the National Knowledge
Commission today asked Uttarakhand to have its own knowledge
commission, which can implement the recommendations of the
national body in the state as per the prevailing conditions.
Speaking at a seminar on the eve of the ninth formation
day of Uttarakhand, Sam Pitroda said Uttarakhand has the
potential to become the knowledge capital of the country and
was not a difficult task considering that the state is having
an able leadership.
Pointing faults in the current education system, he said
most of the education degrees except from IIMs and IITs are
useless in India and urged scientists involved in research
programmes to come into the field of teaching.
He also said that the country will witness another
communication revolution in the coming years.
In her speech, Governor Margret Alva said Uttarakhand has
made rapid progress during the last nine years especially in
sectors like education, health, science, and drinking water.
