Rishikesh: Health condition of spiritual guru Swami Dayanand Giri, a close associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been indisposed for some time, has improved, and he will be discharged from hospital soon.

Modi, who had visited Rishikesh last week, had met Giri at his ashram in Sheeshamjhari area to enquire about his health and spent nearly half an hour in the spiritual guru's company before leaving for Delhi.

The 87-year-old spiritual guru, with whom Modi has been associated since his RSS days, was admitted to the hospital yesterday where he was undergoing hemodialysis, according to Virendra Pandey, an official of Dayanand Ashram.

"He would be discharged from the hospital soon," he said.

Dialysis of Giri was being carried out at the ashram for the last four years, but for past few months he had been frequenting the hospital for hemodialysis to treat kidney failure.
