Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday said he was ready for a judicial probe into the sting CD episode if the main Opposition party BJP is able to produce the original CD, the instruments used in the sting and the documents in support of its allegations.
"We are ready for a judicial enquiry into the sting CD episode only if the original CD is produced by BJP?which has been making only allegations till now," Rawat said here.
"If the Opposition party is able to tell who made the CD, where and when, and the tools used in its making, then we have no objection in instituting a judicial probe into it," he said after his former personal secretary Mohammad Shahid, who was purportedly shown?negotiating a bribery deal in the CD, was relieved of his duties here.
The state unit of the BJP has been vociferously demanding Rawat's resignation and action against the official featured in it, besides demanding a CBI probe into the entire sting CD episode.
Rawat said that for any high-level probe, all facts related to the case need to be brought forward.
For example, to find out whether the CD is genuine, the original CD and tools used in its making need to be sent for forensic tests, he said.
The CD available with the state government lacks clarity and even the official in question has given in writing that the man shown in the video is not him, he said.
Commenting on the recall of the official following an order of the DoPT, he said it was an attack on the federal structure of the country which Prime Minister Narendra Modi often talks about.
