Ready to head any govt panel to probe fake IAS trainee case: BJP leader

Senior BJP leader Ajay Bhatt on Friday said that he was ready to head any committee formed to probe the incident in which a woman masquerading as a trainee IAS officer stayed at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy in Mussoorie.

Dehradun: Senior BJP leader Ajay Bhatt on Friday said that he was ready to head any committee formed to probe the incident in which a woman masquerading as a trainee IAS officer stayed at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy in Mussoorie.

He said he has written to Chief Minister Harish Rawat in this regard as the issue relates to both "safety and credibility" of the state.

"Not only was the woman staying in the academy but she can be seen in a group photo with President Pranab Mukherjee," he said, adding, it's imperative to investigate such a failure.

If the government forms any committee to probe this matter and gives its responsibility to me I am ready for it, Bhatt, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly, said.

Bhatt's comments came after Rawat said recently that he would "ponder seriously" if the Opposition offers in writing to probe the matter.

Earlier, Ajay Bhatt had said he would "uncover" the matter soon if the government gives him the responsibility to probe.

Ruby Chaudhury, who hails from Muzaffarnagar in UP, had stayed at the prestigious IAS training academy for over six months masquerading as a trainee officer and had later accused a senior officer of taking bribe to facilitate her stay.

She was arrested on April 3 and is currently out on bail.
