Gopeshwar: The Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district remain closed for the sixth day on Sunday following rain-triggered landslides.
Over 150 pilgrims today went to Govindghat by helicopter for the annual Bandrinath Yatra as the road between Joshimath and Govindghat was blocked by big boulders due to landslides, according to information received from the District Magistrate's office.
The road was blocked on April 28 due to landslides following which almost 3,000 pilgrims were stranded at Joshimath and Govindghat.
The state government has slashed the helicopter fares to ensure that the Yatra is not halted.
The pilgrimage to Badrinath, one of the four shrines of the annual Char Dham Yatra, began on April 26.
