Stalemate between docs and U`khand govt continues

The stalemate between Uttarakhand govt and doctors of Srinagar medical college continued on Monday with the latter demanding that the anti-social elements who had barged into the room of the principal are arrested.

Dehra Dun: The stalemate between Uttarakhand
government and doctors of Srinagar medical college and
hospital continued on Monday with the latter deciding not to
take back their resignations till the anti-social elements who
had barged into the room of Principal SS Mishra are arrested.

The doctors had quit on February 26th to protest the
administration`s refusal to check the menace of anti-social
elements despite their repeated requests.

Pauri District Magistrate Dilip Jawalkar held a meeting
with the agitating doctors but failed to convince them to take
back their resignations, official sources said.

Chief Medical Superintendent of Srinagar hospital Dr PD
Sharma said the anti-social elements are creating nuisance in
their work and the doctors will not take back their
resignations till the people named in their FIR are arrested
immediately.

"On February 25th also, some anti-social elements barged
into the chamber of Principal Dr SS Mishra and created ruckus
and entered into a scuffle with him. Thereafter, an emergency
meeting was called in the hospital where the decision to
quit en masse was taken", Dr Sharma said.

Though the doctors are not attending their duties, the
emergency services have not been allowed to be hit, he said.
