Dehra Dun: The trek route to Himalayan
shrine of Kedarnath reopened on Thursday for movement of pilgrims
after remaining closed for six days, officials said.
They said that PWD has repaired the 14-km-long
Gaurikund-Kedarnath trek, which was damaged due to landslides
that hit the area on Jul 29 following heavy rains and it was
reopened for movement of pilgrims.
Meanwhile, light to rather heavy rains continued to
lash several parts of the state with Kotdwar recording the
highest rainfall of 78 mm followed by Lansedowne with 73 mm,
Nainital 69 mm, Kausani 67 mm, Uttarkashi 53 mm, Chamoli 40 mm
and Pantnagar 35 mm during the past 24 hours, Met office said.
Met Director Anand Sharma said light to moderate rains
are likely at many places while isolated places might also
receive rather heavy rains during the next 24 hours.
