Dehradun: Two persons were injured, one of them critically, in an attack by a leopard on Thursday morning in Nainital district.

Gopal (60) and Sanjay (32) were attacked by the leopard which was hiding in a sugarcane field in Kemalkhalia village, Ram Nagar Circle Officer Pramod Kumar told PTI.

Although Gopal received minor injuries and was discharged from a local hospital after receiving first aid, Sanjay sustained severe head injuries and has been referred to a hospital in Haldwani.

The leopard escaped into the forest after the attack and forest guards have launched a search to trap the big cat, the circle officer said.
