Dehradun: The Uttarakhand assembly was today adjourned for the day after the opposition created pandemonium seeking a CBI probe into the alleged Citurgia scandal.

As the zero hour began, the members of Congress and BSP led by the leader of the opposition Harak Singh Rawat trooped into the well of the House alleging that the BJP government allowed the sale of a vast tract of land belonging to the Rishikesh-based company to private developers at throw-away prices.

They also alleged that the government changed the land use pattern of 30 acres of land belonging to Citurgia Biochemical Limited in gross violation of tough environmental norms under the pressure of the private developers.

A series of tax sops like exemption in stamp duty was also given to Sterdia Developers Private Limited which are now constructing a housing colony in the area where once the factory stood, Rawat alleged.

Speaker Harbans Kapoor adjourned the House thrice till 1500 hrs.

As soon as the House reassembled for post-lunch proceedings, the agitated MLAs again jumped into the well shouting slogans against the government. As the ruckus continued for some time, Kapoor adjourned the House for the day.

"We want a CBI probe as well as a discussion under the rule 310 (adjournment motion)," Rawat told reporters after the adjournment of the House.
