Roorkee: Kick-starting her campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said on Tuesday that the natural treasures of Uttarakhand is being looted and the only way to prevent it further is government change.

Addressing a rally here, Sonia said that she feels pained on seeing the ‘loot’ of states natural resources. “It is cheating with Uttarakhand,” she added.

Attacking the BJP government in the state, Sonia said that the state is in doldrums due to wrong policies. Taking a dig, she pointed out that by merely changing the chief minister won’t help as what is required is a change in government.

The BJP had recently replaced Ramesh Pokhriyal with BC Kanduri as CM.

“If you want to get Uttarakhand back, only CM change won’t do, the government needs to be changed,” she asserted.

Sonia promised that if Congress is voted to power then farmers will get correct sugarcane prices. She also announced that computer education would be started in Madrasas, besides ensuring that Haridwar and Hemkund get separate budgets.
