Uttarakhand CM announces two-year leave for women

Coinciding with the International Women`s Day, Uttarakhand government on Tuesday announced a two-year child care leave for state government women employees.

Women`s Day, Uttarakhand government on Tuesday announced a two-year
child care leave for state government women employees.
While delivering a speech after completing four years in
office, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, "We have
decided to give two-years child care leave to women employees
of state government so that they could raise their children
without any difficulty."

The government has also planned to open a women varsity
in the state, he said.

Appreciating the Emergency Management and Research
Institute ambulance service, Nishank said, nearly 82,000 women
were provided timely medical care and a total of 2,167
children were given birth in moving ambulances.
Nishank also gave away cheques worth Rs 25,000 each to
two widows of armymen.

Referring to the recently-launched Atal Khadyanna Yojna,
Nishank said apart from BPL families 10 kg of wheat and 10 kg
of rice at the rate of Rs 4 per kg and Rs 6 per kg
respectively will be given to APL families also.

He said the government is committed to provide succour to
the people of the state reeling under the soaring price rise
despite the inadequate supply of foodgrains from the Centre.
