Uttarakhand CM demands Rs 5,000 cr central aid

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Saturday demanded a central relief of Rs 5,000 crore for the damages caused due to heavy rains in the state.

crore for the damages caused due to heavy rains in the state.
"Due to heavy rains in the state, properties worth Rs
3,500 crore were destroyed. As many as 69 people lost their
lives and over 100 villages have submerged in rain water...I
have talked to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over phone on
this issue and asked for a Rs 5,000-crore relief fund,"
Nishank told reporters here.
He said the prime minister has assured him of all
possible help.
