Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri on Monday sought a report into the explosion at a sports college in which eight children were injured.

Khanduri, who visited the hospital to inquire into the condition of the injured children, asked sports director N S Negi to prepare the report immediately so that such blasts do not occur frequently.

In earlier occasions also, the blasts at Railpur army range have occurred leading to the death of several people in the past.

The children, in the age group of 12-17, were playing with a bomb-type object last evening when it suddenly exploded inside the Maharana Sports college.

Significantly, the college is in close proximity to Raipur firing range of the army and the police suspect that the bomb belongs to the army which might have been brought by children to the college compound.

Speaking after visiting the hospital, Khanduri said the government would bear all the expenses of the medical care given to the injured children, whose condition is out of danger.
