Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday refuted allegations by some BJP leaders that ambitious centrally sponsored schemes related to Ganga were not progressing at the desired pace due to non-cooperation of the state government.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday refuted allegations by some BJP leaders that ambitious centrally sponsored schemes related to Ganga were not progressing at the desired pace due to non-cooperation of the state government.

"Such allegations are wholly unfounded and unfair. We have already submitted a proposal of Rs 10,000 crore to the Centre on schemes related to cleaning of the Ganga. We have even submitted an amended proposal in this regard," Rawat told reporters here.

Terming allegations that some schemes related to Ganga cleaning were not progressing at the desired pace due to non-cooperation of the state government as false, Rawat said "mouthing falsehoods repeatedly, collectively and loudly seems to be the motto of our BJP friends".

Senior BJP leader Satpal Maharaj had recently told reporters at Lohaghat in Champavat district that?the state government was not cooperating with the Centre on Namami Gange project.

Union Minister of Water Resources Uma Bharti had also recently said in Haridwar that she had sought an action plan from Rawat on tapping of drains flowing into Gangotri.

The state government will get all support from the Centre for the implementation of the action plan once it is prepared and submitted to the Centre, she had said.
