Dehradun: Higher reaches of Uttarakhand
including the shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath and Yamunotri
received snowfall while the lower hills and plain areas
continued to experience light to moderate rains bringing cold
conditions in the state.
The higher reaches of Himalayas received snowfall
following continuous rains for the past few days posing
problems for pilgrims undertaking the `Chardham` pilgrimage.
The bad weather conditions for the past few days have
also affected the programmes of several VIPs visiting the
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and
his family had to stay in the Kedarnath shrine area in
Rudraprayag district since Tuesday due to inclement weather.
He was today brought to Fata area from where he would
leave for Badrinath by road tomorrow, officials said.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank
could not attend a function at Gopeshwar in Chamoli yesterday
as his helicopter could not take off due to bad weather.
Five helicopters carrying family members of a Chhatisgarh
minister and pilgrims from Kolkata also had to make an
emergency landing due to bad weather during the past two days.
The light to moderate rains in lower hills and plain
areas of the state also dipped the temperature. The day`s
maximum temperature in Dehradun is hovering around 30-32
degree C which is below 4 to 5 degrees below normal.
