Five persons were washed away in flash flood in Nainital district in Uttarakhand.

Dehra Dun: Five persons were washed away
in flash flood in Nainital district in Uttarakhand, taking the
total number of those killed in various rain-related incidents
this season in the state to 15.

A group of seven people were bathing in the Baur river
at Kaladhungi last evening when its water level suddenly
increased following rains in upper areas causing flash flood,
which washed them away, police said on Sunday.

While two were saved, the others drowned, police said
adding the bodies were later handed over to the bereaved
families.

As many as 15 people have been killed so far in
various rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand this season.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains continued to lash
most parts of the hill state with the Met office predicting
more showers during the next 24 hours.

The rains triggered landslides at Nalupani in
Uttarkashi district blocking vehicular traffic, official
sources said.
