Dehra Dun: Vigilance department has
registered another case of corruption against Yogendra Prasad,
former Chairman of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited
(UJVNL) for awarding a contract to a construction firm against
the norms.
The case against Prasad was lodged after a preliminary
inquiry found the charges true, said Superintendent of Police,
Vigilance, B K Juyal.
It has been alleged that Prasad as Chairman of UJVNL, a
state government agency for power generation, awarded a Rs 25
crore contract to Shring company against the norms during the
construction of 304 MW Maneri-Bhali hydel project.
Prasad has also been charged with benefitting a
consultancy firm by allotting it a work of Rs 2.52 crore
bending rules during his tenure.
After registering a case in this regard a few days ago,
the vigilance also alerted all the international airports of
the country expressing apprehension of his intention of going
abroad.
Juyal said the department has already issued a look-out
circular against Prasad.
