Pilgrims killed in stampede at Godavari Pushkaram festival, AP

At least 15 pilgrims, mostly women, died in a stampede at Rajahmundry Pushkar ghat during 'Pushkaram' festival in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. More than 10 others were injured in the tragedy that occurred when a large number of pilgrims rushed towards one of the gates at Kotagummam pushkar ghat on the banks of Godavari river to take the holy dip. The toll may go up some bodies were still believed to be lying at the spot.
