Jhargram: Twenty four people including a
CPI(M) leader were arrested by police for ransacking the
Nayagram Forest Range office and heckling the Forest Range
Officer today, police sources said.
The Nayagram Forest Range office was distributing
compensation to those people whose crops and property had been
damaged by wild elephants.
A group led by local CPI(M) leader Tapesh Baran
Senapati entered the office and ransacked it and heckled the
Forest Range officer demanding why their names were not in the
list of those people entitled to get compensation, the sources

Milan Kanti Mondal said a sum of Rs 20 lakh would be
distributed among those people whose property or crops had
been damaged by wild elephants.
