Arms found from abandoned house in Maoist-hit Salboni

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a large number of cartridges and several gelatine sticks from an abandoned house at Salboni in West Midnapore district.

Midnapore: Acting on information by the
two arrested Trinamool Congress activists with alleged Maoist
link, the police today recovered an AK-47 rifle, a large
number of cartridges and several gelatine sticks from an
abandoned house at Salboni in West Midnapore district.

The arms and ammunition were found after Asim Mahato and
Amiya Mahato were taken to Kanyabali village in the Salboni
police station area, a Maoist stronghold, this morning, police
sources said.

The two were arrested during a raid by the joint forces at
a Trinamool Congress-run relief camp, housed inside a
municipality guest house, in Midnapore town on January 31.
