Kolkata: The West Bengal Assembly
elections due next year could be advanced and held in October
along with some other states including Bihar, Trinamool
Congress chief Mamata Banerjee claimed today.

"It is our political calculation that the Assembly
elections in West Bengal will be held in October along with
some other states, including Bihar. You may or may not agree
with my calculations," Banerjee told a crowded press
conference here.

Yesterday, she had said if the Marxists were defeated
in the May 30 civic elections in the state, the assembly
elections could be held within three months.

Banerjee expressed confidence that the Trinamool
Congress would wrest power from the CPI(M)-led Left Front in
the civic elections as also the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

"If the Left Front is defeated in the civic polls, we
will also demand advancing of the Assembly elections to
October in the state," she said.
